My Faith may be the major motivator in my desire to " Love My Neighbor", but i'm not sure. I was running lemonade stands & bakes sales for charity  under the auspices of my irreligious mother by 3rd grade.   I think it's just *baked* into me.

Actually, if the 'Capitol C' Church returned to first century AD ethos, there would be MUCH less needy people in our world.

BUT, since we ( capital C Church)  aren't, I am a huge supporter of any group helping for the sake of those  who are in need, (and not for the sake of themselves).

This is a page of groups, policies, concepts, wins & loses in the arena of helping our neighbors.

Oh, and a significant amount of personal commentary....😁

Cheap Food Costs More Than You Can Imagine

At the intersection of public policy and food biz is a discussion of ethics, creativity, job creation, farming,  disrespect, waste and trends.
A good article by #Forbes magazine

This was written before the Big Inflation post Covid- but it still encompasses the last round of big inflation in the 70's.

"Our food is cheap—by some measures, cheaper than it’s ever been. Americans now spend less than 10% of their disposable income on what they eat. When researchers first began tracking this figure some 90 years ago, it was closer to 25%.
But the inexpensive supermarket fare that consumers now expect doesn’t come without a hidden human cost. To see, firsthand, the true price of keeping those shelves stocked, Fortune traveled down to the Rio Grande Valley—among the best areas in the country for growing food crops, and one President Trump put in the spotlight last week when he visited the region to make his case for the border wall.
Here along the southern-most tip of South Texas, farm work is mostly piecework: a penny or two for every bunch of cilantro cut and tied, $1.25 for every bucket of jalapeños picked."
